Memorial Day marked the official kick-off to the summer. The summer of 2020 will be like no other summer in the world’s history, to say the least. If you’re a high school football parent, player, or coach your summer is going to be very different without the typical assortment of camps, clinics, and college visits. What do you do if you have plans to play college football in the near future, and you want to know if you are college ready and recruitable? In the coming weeks, HSPN Sports will attempt to provide you with as much information and guidance on the subject of college football recruiting with our series entitled, “The Recruiting Road.”

The recruiting process is difficult enough to navigate without the pandemic factoring in. Our featured series on hspnsports.com, “The Recruiting Road,” will feature articles, interviews, insights and tips from the those who know and understand the recruiting process best.

The series begins with a look into a program that is considerably “pandemic proof.” The program is called the STEALTH Athlete Rating. STEALTH is an acronym for Students Taking Education, Athletics and Life To Heart. The STEALTH Rating system is a 5-Star rating system for high school football student-athletes and was designed as an objective system that uses mathematical algorithms to determine each player’s rating and ranking.

After reviewing the more notable high school football rating systems [names purposely withheld], we found them to use a more subjective process of simply publicizing the top-rated players in the country, This process only accounts for approximately two percent of the top high school football players in the entire country, whereas anyone who uses the STEALTH Rating system can be rated, or rather assessed as to their level of college football recruiting readiness.

The most intriguing thing we discovered about the STEALTH Rating system is that it is ideally pandemic proof. That is, it doesn’t require parents or players to spend money traveling to so-called “college exposure camps,” or feel left out because they were not “invited” to attend the elite camps. Those camps only seek to hype up the top talent, all while promoting their own social media sites. The STEALTH Rating simply requires a collaboration between the player and high school head coach to complete a survey style assessment. The survey requires objective data validated by the head coach that when completed, generates a 5-Star rating highlighting the student-athlete’s work -ethic, character, academic profile, physical attributes and on-field performance achievements.

We thought it would be interesting and helpful to start “The Recruiting Road” series by highlighting the top ten reasons for a parent, player or high school coach to use the STEALTH Rating system. Let’s begin with the high school coach and focus on a couple of reasons each day over the next five days. We will provide insight and detail on each of the reasons listed each day. After covering the reason coaches should use the system, we will do the same for parents, and finally for players.

We begin with high school coaches:

Top Ten Reasons a High School Coach Should Use The STEALTH Rating System…

1. You control the entire process and can always update your players’ rating anytime there are needed changes

2. Share results with parents and other school officials to update them on the process your players are making to become college ready and recruitable

Coaches’ ‘STEALTH Dashboard’

As a high school coach, you can create a username and password [no fee] and once approved by a STEALTH Rating administrator, you will be able to login and see your dashboard where you can ‘Assess My Athletes,’ ‘See My Athletes,’ ‘Edit My Athletes,’ and ‘Download High School Assessment Spreadsheet.’ The assessment spreadsheet is complete with data on each of the players you assess. This allows the head coach, and/or his designee to maintain control over the entire process. The spreadsheet is a useful tool that can be used with the athletes, parents and school officials to track problem areas and discuss solutions to resolve any problems that surface effecting the player’s overall rating.

Check in tomorrow as we bring you the number THREE and FOUR reasons for high school coaches to use STEALTH Rating. For more information go to stealthrating.com.
