The Deerfield Beach Bucks come out on top with another district win. What seemed to have looked like a close district matchup for the Eagles and Bucks in the first half suddenly turned for the worse for Stoneman Douglas early in the 2nd half. Ryan Stoutt, Director of Broadcasting states, ‘Two factors were in play last night and from a mental standpoint, you have a Deerfield Beach team coming off a major victory over Nationally Ranked St. Thomas Aquinas and the Douglas Eagles determined to establish themselves in the 8a-11 district.’

Establishing the run game was a key point for both Douglas Head Coach Willis May and Deerfield Head Coach Jevon Glenn. There was no doubt both teams were going to struggle with a wet field, but that assumption was shut down immediately. Player Of The Game, Teddrick Moffett, Jr. #7 QB, showed us his Athletic Ability in the air and on the ground. Moffett had 277 Total Yards for the night, 45 Rushing for 2 TD’s and 232 Passing for 3 TD’s, and was the explosive player maker to watch from the start. The duel threat QB made sure the Eagles defense had to stay disciplined against the run and the passing game. In the air, Moffett connected on multiple occasions to standout WR #8 Cavin Ridley. Ridley finishing up with 137 Total Yards; 85 in the air and 52 yards on the ground.

On the Defensive side of the ball, The Bucks struggled to make the right adjustments in the first half which gave up a surprising 21 points to the Eagles. DB #10 Simeon Brown and DB #17 Kimar Martin both came up with 2 int’s in the 2nd half helping shut down the Eagles offense in the second half. #6 James Pierre DB and #42 Rosendo Louis LB both led the team with 6 tackles each. And let’s not forget the playmaker from last week’s victory over the Raiders, Jefferson Souza, who pumped a 40 yd FG when the game was tied at 21-21 that contributed to the 44 points put up by the Bucks.

The Eagles, making a lot of noise in the 1st half by establishing a strong running game, were led by #25 Damani Phillips RB and #24 Lance Moise RB. Phillips lead the way with 15 carries, 113 yards, and 2 TD’s. Moise had only 3 carries for the night, but made them count with 36 yards and 1 TD.

The Sophomore Quarterback #1 Tyler Goodman led the charge early for the Eagles Offense showing us his confidence in his Offensive line. Goodman, who was only sacked a handful of times, gave him a the chance to link up with Impact Player #33 Daniel Crescitelli TE. Goodman went 8 for 15 on the night with 145 yards and 2 Int’s connecting with Crescitelli for 2 receptions and 51 yards.

With their only loss to Jacksonville Bowles, the Bucks remain 2nd to the Undefeated Piper bengals in the 8a-11 District; Douglas remains at the 3rd position. Both teams will be facing district play next week. Douglas will face off with cross town rivalry Taravella Trojans and the Deerfield Beach Bucks play the Monarch Knights.
