Spartans and Eagles Look to Shake-up the San Andreas League

The center of the universe in high school football will be in Southern California again Friday night, and not all eyes will be on Mater Dei and St. John Bosco. There’s another rivalry that will be shaking up the Southern California landscape and this one will likely determine the San Andreas League Championship.

The San Gorgonio Spartans (7-1 overall; 3-0 league) will face league rival, and the defending 2018 CIF Division 10 champion, Eisenhower Eagles (5-3 overall; 3-0 league) in a showdown at Ronnie Lott Stadium in Rialto Friday, October 25 at 7:00 PM. HSPN Sports West (hspnsports.com and @hspnsports) will be at the game to bring you in-game and post-game updates).

Coach Rich McClure brings his Spartan team to Rialto with only one loss on the season with a close loss to Redlands 21-18. Coach Al Brown has the Eagles soaring again after dropping their first two games of the season. Eisenhower has won four games in a row with wins over Fontana, Arroyo Valley, Rialto, and Rim of the World.

The Eagles will have to contain Spartan junior quarterback Seth Burbine, who has thrown for over 1200 yards and averages close to 200 yards passing per game. Senior Dejon Mitchell is one of the Spartans’ leaders on defense and will likely look to shut down Eisenhower’s top receiver.

Eisenhower will look to its own impact players to counter all that San Gorgornio will present. Senior quarterback Ceasar Ayala leads the offense, along with senior Jordan Goodloe at runningback. Linebacker George Webster is the lone junior of the Eagles’ defensive impact players. Webster, along with senior defensive back, Dayvon “Special” Benton lead the defense.
