HSPN SPORTS WEST; CALIFORNIA – Jason Wilkinson, Orange High Senior QB Goes Deep with David Hill ‘Inside the Game’

A tough past that has emboldened a promising future. This is Jason’s story, Part 2 of ‘Inside the Game’…

Who is Jason Wilkinson?  If you close your eyes and just listen, the names your hear repeatedly on the Southern California High School quarterback scene are JT Daniels and Re’al Mitchell — deservedly so I would add.  Jason Wilkinson is 6’4” and 195 pounds.  When he walks into a room he passes the proverbial “eye test” that all football coaches love to boast about.  Jason would shrug his shoulders about this but he has the looks and charm of a world class GQ model.  Add to the fact that he’s academically accomplished with a 3.8 gpa and 1160 SAT score, is it time to add Jason Wilkinson to the Southern California quarterback conversation?

This Friday night, Wilkinson will have an opportunity to add his name to the Southern California quarterback talk by leading Orange High [7-1; 2-1] to a win over Santa Ana High School [7-1; 3-0].  The Saints and the Panthers collide in a Golden West League showdown that could very well determine the league championship and positioning for the playoffs.  HSPN West will be bring you coverage and content of the game all week.

Before the season began, Wilkinson wasn’t in the quarterback conversation at all.  All he’s done this season is throw for a total of 1365 yards, and 18 touchdowns against 8 interceptions.  “He has made an impact on this Panther football team and is a big reason why the team is 7-1 and in a position to win the league,” says his head coach, Robert Pedroza.

Wilkinson’s STEALTH Rating has risen as a result of his improved play this season.  At the beginning of the season his rating was 3.1 and his performance has improved each week And is reflective of an improved STEALTH Rating of 3.24.  It proves once again that the STEALTH Rating accurately measures what should be measured, particularly when it comes to improved performance.  If performance numbers are better, the STEALTH Rating will be better.

Jason Wilkinson is determined.  He’s managed to prove to not only himself, but to others that he is going to be special.  His story of progress and prosperity is compelling and he shared a little of it with me in an exclusive interview last Friday on campus.  See parts I and II of my interview with Jason Wilkinson as part of our “Inside the Game” Impact Athlete series on out HSPN Sports West.
