The Nevada desert heats up and the stars will once again be out this Friday night when Southeast meets West.  The Miami Central High School ‘Rockets’ collide with the Bishop Gorman ‘Gaels’ at Fertitta Field in Las Vegas, Nevada Friday, September 8 at 7:00 P.M. EST.

The ‘Rockets’ will travel approximately 1,914 as the crow flies to take on a wounded Bishop Gorman team whose 55 game win streak came to an end last weekend against the top-ranked team in the country, Mater Dei.  Miami Central comes into the game on a roll at 2-0 with wins against Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL) and rival Booker T. Washington (Miami, FL).  The ‘Rockets’ are ranked 28th in the country.

Bishop Gorman’s pre-season schedule is as difficult as any team in the country.  Miami Central is the third nationally ranked team that the ‘Gaels’ will face early in the season.  While they are accustomed to the challenge, they are not accustomed to losing football games and it will be interesting to see how they respond this week coming off of a disappointing loss to #1 Mater Dei last week.
